The Coyote Build

The old 348 SBF combination had a great run. The car has moved on to a sleeved, twin-turbo Coyote setup built around Holley EFI and E85.

01. Engine & Valvetrain

  • FFRE Gen 3 sleeved Coyote block
  • 3.630 in. bore, Manley forged pistons

From Windsor to Coyote

A long way from the original mod list.

This page originally documented the car with a 348 cubic-inch Boss-block small-block Ford, Twisted Wedge heads, a single S480 and FAST XFI. That combination eventually pushed the convertible into the 7s at over 175 MPH.

The current direction is a sleeved Gen 3 Coyote short block with Gen 2 heads, twin 78 mm turbos, Holley Dominator EFI and E85. The drivetrain is now centered around a Powerglide, while the car keeps the same Fox-body roots, 8.8 rear axle and drag-oriented UPR/Wolfe chassis setup.

During the Coyote program the car has also run a stock Gen 1 F-150 Coyote combination, including a 9.72 @ 139.30 MPH quarter-mile pass.
